Chevelle's Connection to Reno: "Send the Pain Below"
Chevelle, an Illinois-based rock band established in 1995, has a notable connection to Reno, having performed in the area multiple times. Their music video for "Send the Pain Below," which is their most successful single, showcases this relationship. The video features a blend of snowy Tahoe landscapes and scenes of the band performing in a dimly lit room, emphasizing the cold atmosphere. A key moment occurs when a snowboarder struggles to perfect his tricks, ultimately succeeding after a visit to a Reno bar and a stroll down Virginia Street, where the iconic Reno arch makes an appearance. Released in 2003, "Send the Pain Below" achieved significant success, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart and peaking at No. 65 on the Billboard Hot 100. With nearly 27 million views, it stands as one of the most viewed music videos filmed in Reno, solidifying Chevelle's impact on the local music scene.
Chevelle Reno Concert reviews
Chevelle, Day Shell, and King
Day Shell opened up and were ok. Sound technician for vocals needed to boost the lead singers volume a little, but band was talented, and I would definitely enjoy seeing them again.
King came on stage and proved they are worthy to play with the likes of big name bands such as Chevelle. Drummer kicked some major ass the entire time, and lead singer has a presence on stage that demands attention. Bassist could sing as well which added to the bands talent. Very entertaining.
Chevelle did not disappoint, with a light show so mesmerizing that quite possibly could have sent every person in the audience into epileptic seizures, they rocked the stage their entire set. I have seen them live once before and was impressed, and in the two years since it is obvious their intensity, talent, and stage personas have only grown stronger and more entertaining. I would highly recommend anyone see them live.
